An Emirates fan has shared 10 things that people may not know about flying with the airline.

Dubai marketing employee Samraa took to TikTok to share footage revealing her travel experience in economy class. The first thing she says people don’t know is that you can text for free.

For Emirates Skywards Blue members, there’s the perk of free unlimited use of platforms such as WhatsApp and Messenger during the flight, irrespective of travelling in economy, premium economy, or business class seats. Those with Emirates Skywards silver or gold status also have this perk.

Second, Samraa pointed out a fascinating feature enabling passengers to phone fellow flyers aboard their flight. She picked up a handset by her seat and revealed: “You can call other seats with this”.

Those flying with Emirates can also tune into live TV through Ice TV Live, offering an array of sports events, including English Premier League matches, NFL, NBA, and tennis majors, among others. Every passenger has access to their own personal TV screen, providing up to 6,500 channels.

Another Emirates tip shared by Samraa is that passengers are not restricted to a single drink and can request additional beverages, as well as complimentary snacks, subject to availability.

Something else she noted that you might not know is that there are differently sized bathrooms equipped with sanitary pads for female passengers. Also, passengers can access the plane’s external cameras.

Samraa’s TikTok video has garnered significant attention, with more than 1.5 million views, 56,800 likes and 500 comments to date. One user commented: “So glad you are showing economy! It’s not as bad as people make out.”

Meanwhile, another gushed: “Love flying with Emirates! Kids love it, seats are comfortable, lots of shows for the kids to watch, they get given activity packs to keep, the flight attendant comes round [and] takes a Polaroid pic of them!”

Despite Emirates being a popular choice among some travellers, it did not take home the title of “best airline” in 2025.
