Salman Khan with Mika Singh

Singer and music composer Mika Singh is a frequent collaborator with Salman Khan. Mika has sung several popular songs for Bhaijaan, including Jumme Ki Raat from Kick. In a recent interview, Mika recalled his first meeting with Salman and the strong bond he formed with the superstar over the years.

While speaking to Lallantop, Mika proudly explained how he added himself to the Dabangg star midnight call list. Mika said that Salman came to one of his shoots. “We interacted, but I didn’t think to butter him up and ask for his phone number…I had already done the song, ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ for him, but I thought that my voice was terrible in it. Salman bhai loved it…In my excitement, I tweeted about it. Now, Salman bhai usually likes talking on the phone at 2 am, and he gets very upset if you don’t answer his calls.”

The Singh is Kinng singer further shared the moment when he honoured his bond with Salman, and changed the word Katrina on the actor’s urge to replace the word ‘Katrina’ with ‘Jaquelina’. Singh said, “Yes, I did change it for him. But I hadn’t had any song with him before ‘Loot’, I did a lot of songs after that. Whatever song I write, I write according to the film. In that film, the characters were so that I had taken some names but then I changed them when he asked me to. I changed the word ‘Katrina’ to ‘Jacquelina’.”

Mika also revealed his honest reaction when Salman replaced him as a singer, “I never accept jobs where I might be replaced. But here, it was Salman Khan himself who was replacing me. What was I going to do? I was so tense. He asked me if I liked his singing, and of course, I said yes. But luckily, one of his nephews was with him. He made him listen to the song as well, but his nephew told him that my version was better.”
